Celebrating Community and Support

Gather Round was a heartfelt initiative that celebrated the incredible warmth of the Hong Kong rugby community. This special day was dedicated to supporting Freya, a brave two-year-old girl diagnosed with Tay Sachs disease—the first known case in Hong Kong. As we faced the challenges of this extremely rare genetic condition, we recognised that, while there is currently no cure, the social and emotional support from our community was vital.

We used the HKFC v Valley rugby derby as a catalyst to unite players and supporters alike, showcasing how our collective spirit transcended club rivalries during difficult times.

Raise Awareness

Together, we shared Freya’s story to educate the community about Tay Sachs disease and its profound impact. We also highlighted charities that provide crucial mental health support for families navigating this diagnosis.

Celebrate Unity

The event highlighted the strength and love within the rugby community, regardless of club affiliation. The support we received was nothing short of incredible, making the tough days feel a little lighter. We wouldn’t have been able to gather without the unwavering encouragement from our community.

Fundraising

Our efforts generated financial support for Freya, assisting with ongoing medical care and resources for them and others facing rare diseases.

In the end, Gather Round was a wonderful celebration of unity, awareness, and support for Freya and her family.

Together, we made a meaningful difference, and the spirit of community truly shone through!

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
